Lawrence Hall Youth Services

Chicago, Illinois

Lawrence Hall Youth Services (LHYS) established its Lawrence Avenue campus in 1900 to serve youth. Evaluation of resources revealed that the function, layout and image of the campus were no longer supportive of LHYS's mission with existing buildings disconnected and plagued with maintenance problems. Following a cooperative planning process, McBride Kelley Baurer prepared a master plan for a new 150,000 square foot campus to better support the mission. New buildings include an alternative school, library, community room, cafe, gymnasium, residential units, administrative offices, and a courtyard which serves both as the functional and symbolic center of the Lawrence Hall community.
